We of German decent have long enjoyed Oktoberfest, The celebration began in Munich with the marriage of King Ludwig I to Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. The two hundred year old festival brings millions of visitors to Munich. September 19, 2009 begins this year's Munich festival, and it ends October 4, 2009. There is ceremony to the affairs of the day. Goers love their beer and the fair-like atmosphere with the beer tents. From the traditions of Munich, autumn festivals are commonplace.

Oktoberfest celebrations are fun, lively and exceptionally beautiful throughout the Eastern United States. Orlando, Florida has no “change of seasons” and mild October temperatures, but the best USA festival is Walt Disney World's EPCOT German Biergarten. From the ambiance, costuming, entertainment, food and beverage, it is the most authentic festival in the USA.

New York State proudly claims many residents of German decent and celebrates with many German-American Festivals. From Buffalo to New York City to Syracuse to Albany, thousands flock to join the fun, complete with live German bands, scrumptious German-style grilled food, and lots to drink. Oom-pah Oom-pah bands are everywhere.

In the South, all festivals have plenty of food, drink and entertainment. Beginning September through November, fall colors take your breathe away as they swing and sway. Welcoming you to another level of graciousness, and saying, “Y'all come on in.”

Georgia is a great place to begin, and nothing more Bavarian than Helen. Travel to South Carolina's midlands and upcountry where hospitality and festivals are synonymous. North Carolina is too beautiful for words. Quaint villages and festivals are a vacationers' paradise. Gatlinburg has a festival everyday. The artisans are talented and the cottage industry thrives with millions of visitors each year. Historic Virginia, wonderful West Virginia, majestic Maryland, and Pennsylvania's Miffinsburg, and Pocono's offer fantastic fall festivals with beautiful colors. The Oktoberfest beers are the crowds favorites.

Autumn festivals of merry-making continues north. The northern destinations have shorter fall seasons. Beautiful Delaware, tranquil Rhode Island, enthusiastic New Jersey, awe-inspiring Massachusetts and arrogantly pleasant Connecticut all have splendid American histories and histories of German celebrations. Stunning Vermont, astonishing New Hampshire, and magnificent Maine have great fall festivals and early winters. If you linger, catch the glorious winter festivals. All are charming, full of laughter, song and dance. Find an Oktoberfest near you and join the fun.

World Cup controversy is nothing new to France and the now infamous Thierry Henry handball during their two-match World Cup qualifier playoff against Ireland in November is no exception. France were given the number one seed in the group with their draw in that match, and will now have to back up their chance to get back to the World Cup final once again.

Les Bleus did not score a lot of goals in qualifying, but did play stingy defense. France made a poor start to UEFA Group 7, losing the opening game 3-1 to Austria, and eventually finished in second place, one point behind Serbia. It took an extra-time goal in their play-off with Ireland to give them a 2-1 aggregate win to finally send them through.

Boss Raymond ” Dom Dom” Domenech, is possibly the least popular coach in international football right now due in part to his antics of the pitch, and he insistence on playing two defensive midfielders and only one striker on a squad that is stacked with up front punch.

With all of this swirling around the team as they head into the 2010 World Cup, France still remains a very talented and favored team. Three top form strikers lead the club. Captain Thierry Henry, Nicolas Anelka, and Real Madrid youngster Karim Benzema.

They are supported nicely in the midfield by Bordeaux’s Yoann Gourcuff, left winger Florent Malouda of Chelsea fame, and Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery, who’s arguably the most talented of all France’s attacking options. Finally veteran defender William Gallas leads the back.

Les Bleus have appeared in 12 final tournaments, winning on home soil in 1998. They have also managed third-place finishes in 1958 and 1986, as well as fourth spot in 1982.

The doubters will focus on the team’s troubles in securing there seed, while supporters will remember that France also barley made the field before finishing runner-up in the 2006 World Cup in Germany in what has become infamous for the Zinadine Zidane head butt near the end of the match.

They will start out in a winnable group A and should be the favorites to finish first. They will have to play smart for a win in their first match against Uruguay, and will need a least a draw against Mexico.

That combination alone should get them through with their last game being against a weaker South Africa.

I expect to see France in the quarterfinals and depending on whom they draw, a possible semi-finals appearance may be in order.

Anything beyond that would be a bonus.

My favorite Fussball-Trikot: Miroslav Klose Trikot Online Shop

Who are the best coaches in College Football? When I began putting this list together the first decision I made was to not make this an all time list. I only concentrated on the last five to six seasons. Names such as Paterno, Bowden, Osborne, Switzer and Mckay will not make my list. The first thing I looked at obviously was the won loss record of various coaches. I took into consideration how these coaches performed in their rivalry games, because a lot of head coaches lose their jobs when they consistently get beat by their rival. Recruiting was also a big factor when I put this list together. Obviously the schools that are able to attract the most talent have a better chance of being successful on the football field. National Championships played a big part in selecting the coaches that made The Best College Football Coaches Bar None list.

Pete Carroll 65-12,Two National Championships, 34-2 at Home

It is easy to make the statement that Carroll is in Los Angeles and it should be easy to get the USC Trojan Program to elite status. John Robinson had a second tenure at USC and had trouble-beating UCLA. Paul Hackett couldn't bring the USC Trojans back to national prominence either. When A.D. Mike Garret was searching for a new coach he was forced to settle for Pete Carroll. The best thing about what Carroll has accomplished is the fact that none of this was expected of him. I'm sure when Pete took over, the Trojan family would have been happy with beating UCLA and an occasional win over Notre Dame. Under Carroll's watch the Trojans have produced three Heisman Trophy winners in Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush. Carroll's success has resulted in his coaching staff being raided by other organizations. Former defensive coordinator Ed Orgeron is the head coach at Mississippi. Former offensive coordinator Norm Chow is the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans. Former offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is the head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Pete Carroll has produced outstanding players and coaches. Even though Carroll was not successful, the one play that makes Carroll the best coach in the NCAA is the 4th down play against Texas in the Rose Bowl. Carroll was aware of his deficiencies on defense and he knew if Vince Young got his hands on the ball again Texas would win. The Trojans best chance at winning a third consecutive Championship would be converting a 4th down. Texas stopped the Trojans, but that was absolutely the right call to make. If Pete Carroll is able to guide USC Trojans to one more National Championship Carroll will be considered a legendary coach.

Urban Meyer 61-12, 1 National Championship, 13-0 at Home

Urban Meyer's success started before he got to Gainesville. When he was the head coach at Bowling Green he went 17-6. At Utah Meyer went 22-2 and was undefeated in 2004 and destroyed Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl. Urban Meyer was the first coach to lead a Mid Major Program to a BCS game and Meyer did this before the rules of the BCS were adjusted to make it easier for a Mid Major Conference to qualify for a BCS Bowl. Any coach who has a very high winning percentage at three different schools has to have an effective plan on how to win. It is hard to go undefeated in any conference so Meyer's undefeated record in the Mountain West should not be looked at lightly. The SEC is considered the #1 conference in NCAA Football and Florida's only loss in 2006 was a 27-17 defeat at Auburn. For any team to make it through the SEC with only 1 loss is a major accomplishment. The win over Ohio State in the BCS Championship game was outstanding, because Ohio State was built up as this unbeatable team and the Florida Gators dismantled them 41-14. Urban is also credited with the development of former #1 NFL Draft pick Alex Smith. Meyer is also bringing in top rated recruiting classes and should have the Florida Gators competing for more National Championships.

Jim Tressel 62-14, 1 National Championship, 38-4 at Home

I don't believe appearing in National Title Games was the main concern when Jim Tressel was hired. Ohio State is a great example of great talent does not equal championships. OSU has never had a problem getting great talent to come to their school. Former head coach John Cooper was fired because he could not beat Michigan. Cooper's record versus Michigan was 2-10-1. In Columbus that is not acceptable. Jim Tressel's first goal was to beat the Wolverines. Tressel is 5-1 against Michigan. Tressel has a very conservative but effective coaching style. During his tenure Ohio State has had very dominant defenses, good running games and would constantly hit teams with the play action pass. Tressel plays it close to the vest, but all he does is win football games. Tressel was apart of one the best college football games of all time. When Ohio State played the University of Miami in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl the Buckeyes were expected to lose by 14 or more points. Miami was in the midst of a mini dynasty. The Hurricanes were stacked with talent they had multiple #1 draft picks at the TE position, RB position, DL and the defensive secondary. Putting the phantom pass interference call aside Ohio State Buckeyes played a tremendous game and beat a team that talent wise was better than them. Ohio State won 31 -24 in two overtimes. Tressel led the Ohio State Buckeyes to another National Championship game last January. Jim Tressel is 3-1 in BCS games and should be able to keep OSU competing at a high level for years to come.

Mack Brown 93-22, 1 National Championship, 48-5 at Home

Patience is one thing that college football fans don't have. Fans look at the talent on their team and if the win loss record is not impeccable administration and alumni point the finger at the head coach. The rivalry game will get coaches fired if they can't win that game. Mack Brown could not beat Oklahoma. In the eyes of Texas fans it didn't matter how talented the Sooners were or how good of a coach Bob Stoops was the bottom line was Mack Brown could not beat Oklahoma with players like Chris Simms, Roy Williams and Ricky Williams. In three consecutive seasons Mack Brown went 11-2, 11-2 and 10-3 and there was a good amount of people that wanted him fired. Luckily the University of Texas was patient. Mack Brown's last name should be recruit. Brown consistently brings top ten recruiting classes to Austin. Mack Brown's Texas teams played back-to-back Rose Bowl games that could go down in history as the best two Rose Bowl games ever played. Texas beat Michigan 38-37 and USC 41-38. Texas was the underdog in both games. Vince Young's career was born as a result of back-to-back Rose Bowl victories. Mack Brown's ability to coach was always in question. Before they played USC it was assumed that Pete Carroll would easily out coach Mack Brown. With the deck stacked against him Mack Brown was able to lead the Texas Longhorns past the Trojans for Brown's first National Championship. Texas is 2-0 in BCS Bowl games and Brown has the Texas Longhorns on track to be apart of many more.

Green Point 2 - South Africa by South African Tourism

My favorite Fussball-Trikot: VfB Stuttgart Trikot Trikot bestellen

If you know nothing about Brazil you surely know at least that most Brazilians have a passion for soccer. That feeling goes to the highest levels of intensity when final games are taking place in states championships held every year. The fact is soccer is sure the national game of Brazil.

A Little Background - Sao Paulo State 2008 cup finals

It is hard to write about an event such as the final games of the Sao Paulo State cup The Paulistao as it is called. As you will read bellow. The anxiety is too big on both side but, the story for the Campinas (Campinas in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil) people is some what more dramatic.

A City's Passion for Soccer and Its 100-Year-Old Team

Ponte Preta is 108 years old, the club was started on August 6, 1900, the oldest team of the state and yet it has never won a cup. Many finals, many second places, but the taste of bringing home the trophy is still to be felt by its fans.

The games

Palmeiras and Ponte Preta met last month for the first of two games of the final of the Sao Paulo state championship (April 27). Palmeiras has maybe more fans than the city of Campinas has inhabitants, figuratively speaking. Palmeiras is the team from the capital of the state of Sao Paulo with large salaries, stars, and all infra-structure - against the country side team, that is Ponte Preta. A game fight like David against Goliath.

I went then on through the streets of Campinas from the early morning up to the game into Moises Lucarelli stadium and after while people where going home documenting that passion and the forms it takes.

The fans

Prior to the game Ponte's fans were already in front of their stadium cheering and having a great time. TVs and radio networks all ready to transmit the game did prey on those fans for material for routine insertions and comments. I confess I did the same.

Many people go to the game on foot here. On the streets cheerful fans showed their love for the game and their team. Ponte Preta's mascot is, as you can tell from the photo beside, a monkey and Palmeira is a parrot. Of course in the streets of Campinas you would not see a parrot walking around, maybe not even flying. It would be too dangerous.

The police work was very efficient and no major event or violence happened, but I tell you what there were police officers all over the place. All fans were searched upon entering the stadium, each group entered by a different gate and inside they were kept in very separate places. It worked.

The press from all over the state came to cover the event and I went after some sport commentator to check what the prospects were for the match in their expert opinion check the video below with Mr Celso Cardoso and Mr Felipe his producer, both from TV Gazeta minutes before the game.

Look for Interview with TV Gazeta journalist Mr Celso Cardoso here at AC.

They agreed that it would be very, very difficult for Ponte Preta to win against Palmeiras, but it is a game and it takes 90 minutes and everything can happen, Mr Cardoso affirmed. Check at Youtube (the video is not very good, but audio is ok)

Well, the first game ended as the experts predicted Palmeiras 1 and Ponte Preta 0, the next game would be in Sao Paulo May 4th, the following weeked, what they call here the return game and now the task would be even more difficult for Ponte Preta must score 2 to nil to win the 2008 championship. The next Sunday I followed it all to witness who would win, Palmeiras or Ponte Preta — David or Goliath!

Still it was not time for Ponte Preta to conquer the Paulistao. In August, Ponte Preta will be 108 years old. Hopes were high in the city for the Monkey, as Ponte is called, to bring home her first state title.

May 4y the last game

Minutes before the game and during the first half I cycled around to take some shots. Many people in Brazil (not only in Campinas where the pictures were taken) like to go to bars to sit among friends, drink, eat some snacks and watch the game. Check images on the side.

Not many bars were open; I was surprised. For Ponte to win today they needed to score two or more goals over Palmeiras. Many fans were not very confident especially because Ponte was now going to play in Sao Paulo at Parque Antartica, its opponent's house.

Everything can happen in soccer but the superb championship played by Palmeiras was too much against the odds. Palmeiras won 15 games, including its final 2, lost only 4 and went even 0 to 0 in another 4. Well, this time Goliath made it happen; poor David did not have a chance. Before the first 30 minutes of game were covered, Palmeiras was already two goals ahead of Ponte Preta. In the end, Palmeiras defeated Ponte Preta 5 to 0.

So Palmeiras is the 2008 Paulistao Champion. The truth really is that Ponte Preta made a great tournament. With much less money to invest and no big names in its team, the Monkey went really far and deserves to be applauded for that.

Journalists from TV Bandeirantes (BAND) were working in front of Ponte's stadium. They were waiting to see if the fans would show up to celebrate. It did not happen. A trend of Brazilian culture does show up, something we are trying and need to learn better - but still second place and nothing is the same around here.

Teasing a Trend of Brazilian Soccer Fans
(This part was first published at OMNI - there you may see more pictures)

There are some trends about Brazilian sports fans, soccer fans especially, that are somewhat remarkable. Like the one pointed out above. Another strong one, which looks like a need, is to mock the opponent team's fans and team.

As you read before, the 2008 state champion was determined between two finalists: one from the capital of the state Sao Paulo and the other from the countryside. The team from the capital is a big club and the other one - although the oldest club in the state — is much smaller.

Thousands of people in the city were cheering for Ponte Preta (or just Ponte), but not everybody in Campinas was sad it lost to Palmeiras. Campinas is a large city and, of course, there are other teams. The archrival of the Monkey (Ponte's nickname) was once champion of the Brazilian cup. So the Guarani Futebol Clube does have the right to boast a star on top of the team coat.

On the picture of Ponte's team you see a banner where you may read literally “It is possible.” Back on the first game I already had it in mind to write on the large differences between these two teams and what a good surprise it was to find that banner there on the field. It came across like a glove for this article in which I set Palmeiras as Goliath and Ponte as David, from the famous biblical fight.

Well, the colors of Guarani are almost exactly the same as those of Palmeiras — basically green and white — and since Campinas is a countryside city, many fans have actually two teams, one from the major leagues and a local one; or better, one from the capital and the local one. You don't need to know much about soccer to guess rightly that most fans from Guarani are also fans of, or at least have more admiration for, Palmeiras than they would for the local rival in such a game.

Proof of that is what I found on the streets and squares of Campinas, hanging in trees, light poles and so on. I took a picture so you can see for yourself below. (beside)

To tease Pontipretanos (Ponte Preta's fans) and for the amusement of many the large banners are hung all over. In the banner, there's a message on top that says, “Guarani the only champion of Campinas,” and the one below, “Not all is possible!” Beside also you may see a banner set in a T-shirt wore by Joao Queiroz from Campinas a big fan of Guarani, many other fans are doing so.

Pay back

From what heard, Guarani is facing financial problems and will have to sell its stadium to solve tax, salary and other debts. They expect and most probably will also build a new stadium somewhere else in Campinas. If that happens the payback is surely on its way. Creativity for that Brazilians do not lack.

Nobody is dead yet so it is OK so far. Let's hope it stays like this — just fun for fans.

Important note to fans: There are not taking sides here! This whole article is about the game, the passion for it, the teasing and the mocking trends that exists among soccer fans - is a fact, that is the pointy here. You may put on your comments, state what you think about it all, that is great, you are welcome to participate. But, please, avoid low level language and swear words, kids read this articles. Thank you very much.

Real Madrid defender Pepe hopes to return on May 5, allowing the Portuguese central defender to play in the Blancos' last three Liga fixtures of the season against Mallorca, Athletic Bilbao, and Malaga, according to AS.

Pepe is reportedly improving progressively and is on schedule to return to action from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (suffered on December 12, 2009) a month prior to what was previously predicted as his return date.

Pepe has been spending 42 hours per week in rehabilitation, both in the gym and in a swimming pool with the objective of wearing the Madrid shirt again this season and helping his team-mates win the Liga title. Next week, Pepe is scheduled to take the training ground at Valdebebas for light jogging.

If Pepe is able to return as scheduled, it would almost certainly gain him a spot in the Portuguese national team for this summer's World Cup. Although he will not have the form to take on elite competition immediately, Pepe was a fixture for Portugal in the qualifying stages prior to his injury and has been in close contact with national team coach Carlos Queiroz with respect to his recovery.

Since his injury, Pepe has remained a part of the Madrid team, first receiving many visitors and encouraging gifts in the wake of his injury, visits in the gym from team-mates checking up on his progress, and even a birthday cake from the team on the Valdebebas pitch on February 26. Finally, Pepe attended the team lunch held at a local Madrid restaurant on Wednesday in which the side met to focus on the fight for the Liga title.

5 Elements to Being a Good Still Photographer on the Set of an Independent Film

I have taken some Photos in the last weeks - please tell me what you think:

Photographer Kurt Weston sees his AIDS as a battle. And he needs to be a warrior willing to fight the virus that is destroying him.

“I never really wanted to just give up, even when I had the KS lesions. I think part of it was the fear of dying, but I didn't just wait for it to happen,” he says, explaining his source of positive attitude during the course of our phone interview.

Diagnosed with full-blown AIDS in 1991, the award-winning visual artist considers protease inhibitors a miracle that literary saved his life. But, as he was restoring his health, he was also becoming legally blind, diagnosed with CMV retinitis in 1994.

“I was devastated because here I had spent my life working as a photographer and as a visual artist and I was no longer capable of doing this… or so I thought, because I couldn't see anything in focus. I don't see anybody's face,” he says. “I see… like, if you look at the palm of your hand. That's what I see of a person's face. So, I didn't think I could ever photograph again.”

Fortunately, it turned out he could. And his first challenge was finishing the 1999 calendar for the Asian/Pacific Crossroads.

Many challenges later, after attending low vision technology studies at the California Braille Institute and experimenting with his new special equipment, Weston realized that he could, indeed, photograph. With the help of organizations like the Foundation for Junior Blinds (now known as Junior Blind of America) and California Department of Rehabilitation, he purchased the special equipment-handheld telescope, special magnification glasses, and magnification and reading software programs like Zoomtext-necessary for him to continue his work.

“It was scary. A lot of times, I would take a leap of faith and do a lot of experimentation,” he recalls this learning process.

Kurt Weston is a firm believer that a person can work through a situation, no matter how extremely challenging and helpless it may seem, and use the experience to help others who find themselves in similar circumstances. This philosophy has helped him work off the dilemmas in his own life while giving his life a deeper sense of meaning.

His early work in the AIDS community includes the founding of SWAN (Surviving With AIDS Network) a grass-root type of organization for people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as founding the Orange County Therapeutic Nutrients Program, which assists people living with HIV/AIDS.

One of the many ways Weston helps others today is through VSA arts (the Very Special Arts), an international organization committed to promote disabled artists. In June 2005, as a member of a VSA's Board of Directors, he went to D.C. with a VSA contingent to advocate for the continuation of funding because “this rigid administration and our wonderful President were trying to take all the money away from arts and education.” He finds this absolutely appalling because these funds are vital for the careers of many potentially good artists.

From his perspective, Weston considers art a vehicle through which we can experience the nature of humanity. In today's society consumed by superficial realities, his art goes beyond the body and into a metaphysical dimension, connecting with the viewer on a more profound, spiritual level.

Kurt Weston's 2005 Unfinished Works award-winning work captures The Last Light of a dear friend. “He had AIDS and hepatitis,” the artist explains. “He was seeing the light of day for the last time two days after I took that picture he died. He had been a big light for many people and helped the HIV/AIDS community for many long years.”

Peering through Darkness is part of Kurt Weston's Blind Vision series of self-portraits that show people the physical and emotional impact that visual loss can have on an individual. In order to represent his visual disturbance-which he described like “pieces of cotton stuck in my eye, floating every time I move my eye”-he sprayed a glass with foaming glass cleaner and took a self-portrait sitting behind it. “You see my hand pushing away the foam, which is what I would love to do,” he explains, “I would like to be able to wipe away all that cotton that keeps floating in front of my eye and get a clear view of what I want to see out in the world.”

Weston believes that black-and-white offers his art a concentration of expression. And he likes that intensity, in particular in his portraits. He uses regular film and prints his images on silver gelatin paper so that they can last forever. He wants future generations to be able to look at this work and say, “This was happening at this time in history and this is the impact it left on people who's lives it touched, this pandemic.”

But Kurt Weston is also concerned about today's young generation and the impact HIV/AIDS has on it. A volunteer in the Positively Speaking HIV Prevention program, he goes to schools and talks to students about HIV/AIDS.

“It's strange that people are ignorant about how they get AIDS,” he comments. “We need a lot more of [education and prevention]. Unfortunately, this administration has fallen short in terms of discussing this issue. They basically only want people to know about abstinence. It would be nice if young people could abstain from sexual behavior, but that's not the reality. The reality is that a young person with hormones coursing through the body is going to engage in sexual behavior. And it's to [this kind of] individuals that we need to provide safer sex messages in terms of how to do it safely and prevent getting infected.”
What about an AIDS cure? Kurt Weston believes that stem-cell research will be an integral part of finding a cure, one that will come from some type of genetic therapy. Until then, he reminds, there is so much work to be done.

Oh holy Gemma, I am near you, help me to pray. You know what I and those near me need: look after my urgent needs and my spiritual and material wants. You take care of them! I confide in you and entrust all to your loving care.Offer up to Jesus that tender and constant care that you bore Him here on earth.Oh holy Gemma, you who physically suffered all the pains of the Passion of Jesus, I beseech of you the grace to meditate on and live the Passion of Jesus, and the sufferings of Holy Mary. Pray that I will be able to walk in the path of humility, simplicity, love and sacrifice, fulfilling at all times and in all ways, the holy will of God. Let me live united with Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and you, for all eternity. Amen.

Sony Vaio VPCCW1S1E/P.G4 35

On September 4, 2008, I purchased my first laptop computer. After extensive research, I decided on the new HP Pavilion dv5. Because I use the computer for gaming and entertainment, I customized it with these specs:

- HP Pavilion dv5t Entertainment Notebook

- Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)

- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53 GHz)

- 15.4″ diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Infinity Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)

- 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS

- 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

- [For BrightView Infinity] Webcam Only

- HP Color Matching Keyboard

- Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100AGN and Bluetooth(TM)

- Integrated 56K Modem

- SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support

- No TV Tuner w/remote control

- High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

- $100 OFF Microsoft(R) Office Home and Student 2007!!

- System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)

- HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

Total Price (incl. Tax)

$1627.74

Okay, so it's a little pricey. As they say, you get what you pay for. I have had hardly any problems with the PC. The problems I have encountered just have to do with Windows, not the hardware itself. But since Vista is pretty much all you can get except for buying a Mac or installing Linux, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

This laptop is not for everyone. For example, if you're looking for a cheap internet/email notebook, look elswhere. You won't find this for under $650. It's perfect for the on-the-road gamer and the entertainment buff. The technology in this should keep you pretty much up to date for at least a couple of years.

Compaq Presario CQ61-315sg 39

As Generation Y continues to frolic to the vast array of social networking sites including MySpace.com, Friendster, and other social exchange networks, the options are no longer limited to the laptop or PC to connect with other members. Wireless gadgets are increasing in scope and features, with tech-savvy products primed for efficiency and functionality. Fresh on the market is the Sony Mylo, a slick and compact device that just may lure more people to jump on board to the world of online social networking.

Mylo stands for ‘my life online’ and is Sony’s first wireless gadget emergence for handheld and small-gadget friendly users. The interface is attractive and appealing; a pop-out keyboard pad is cleverly appended to the large, digital color screen. Held in both hands, the slim and compact design looks a lot like a handheld game piece.

The core appeal of the Sony Mylo is the instant messaging component, with the ability to send and receive messages almost immediately upon turning the Mylo on. No more searching for a local computer, booting up a laptop, or even turning to the cellphone and PDA; the Sony Mylo will keep your fingers busy with a variety of user-friendly components.

Users of the Sony Mylo can exchange pictures, text messages, music, and check up on e-mails with a few quick steps; the device is a great outlet for Google Talk, and even Skype since it doesn’t require ongoing maintenance fees for each type of service. Skype software is pre-installed on the device, and can easily boost a user’s networking frequency. The embedded browser on the Sony Mylo allows for quick and easy web connectivity, making the device a functional resource for e-mail exchanges on the go.

45 hours of playback time and 1GB of storage offer enough space to create miniature music-libraries, in addition to chat and surf time. The Sony Mylo supports MP3 files, and downloads are smooth and consistent across almost all wireless networks; the Mylo is built for 802.11b wireless connections. Mobile gadgets are a hot item in the social networking arena, and Sony Mylo is just one of many up-and-comers. The wireless capabilities make it a promising choice for school, college, and university campuses where connectivity has prominence and offers easy wireless access.

Other wireless gadgets on the market today, specifically geared towards young generations who are catching the wave for social networking, include cellphones and PDAs. When Helio partnered with MySpace to create MySpace-exclusive programs for its mobile device, new user behaviors have begun to populate the market.  Nokia has embraced the Flickr networks, to allow users to share and exchange pictures and comments easily. Juice Wireless, a company that offers mobile marketing and consumer products to a wide variety of industries, hopes to tap into many social networking sites and gadget-makers to harness the effectiveness of tracking friends, services, or other location-specific data through GPS technology. The Sony Mylo is tapping into a growing and attractive market, and may cater to the vital needs of many social networking sites.

Acer Extensa 5620Z, Reviewed

Acer's Extensa 5620Z is a low end budget laptop only of you judge it by price alone. When it comes to actual performance, it's another story. Really, I'm surprised how much Acer managed to pack into the Extensa 5620Z for the cheap price tag of $550.

Technical Specs:
Screen Size: 15.4'' WXGA Acer CrystalBrite LCD
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2370 (1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache)
RAM: 2GB DDR2 667
HDD: 250GB
Video: Intel GMA x3100
Drive: DVD Super Multi
WLAN: 802.11b/g
Integrated Webcam/Microphone
OS: Vista Home Premium

Perfect Laptop for College or Work

While the Extensa 5620Z is certainly not a gaming monster, or a processing powerhouse, its more than enough for college or work use. It feels responsive and quick thanks to the 2GB of DDR2 RAM and Pentium Dual-core processor. Thanks to a generous 250GB hard drive, it has enough space for all of your music, movies, and games, as well as school assignments or work presentations. The DVD drive allows you to watch movies, and the laptop can be connected to a television or external monitor via an S-Video out, or VGA connection. There is also a memory card slot on the front for uploading pictures from a digital camera.

The screen on the Acer Extensa 5620Z looks great, though it has a glossy cover which can cause some glare, but nothing major. With a native resolution of 1280×800, the picture looks crisp and bright. The outer cover is prone to light scratching, but it's not very noticeable. It looks very professional, and has a surprisingly high quality appearance for such a cheap notebook.

Easy to Set Up, Easy to Use

The battery in the Acer Extensa 5620Z lasts about 2 ½ hours, which is acceptable, but not great. The speakers are also decent, but again nothing exceptional. After extended use the laptop can get quite warm, but it's nothing to worry about. It was able to connect to my wireless network easily and without any problems. The integrated webcam is a great feature, and works well. The suite of software Acer includes with the laptop doesn't really contain anything special, but there's not much “bloat ware” either, which pleasantly surprised me. It includes a trial version of Microsoft Office, trial anti-virus software, and a utility for managing the wireless connection. I would have liked to have seen a program like OpenOffice rather than the trial of Microsoft Office, but that's just a matter of personal opinion.

A Great Buy

Really, for the price, there's no other laptop that comes close to the Acer Extensa 5620Z. The combination of great hardware and features it amazing. Overall I've had a wonderful experience with it, and happily recommend it to anyone searching for a new notebook computer.

Lenovo uniquely launched the S10 IdeaPad but have since decreased ongoing cost and also added a 6 cell battery, VeriFace security software and Quick Start OS. Lenovo also added numerous colorful options to this design such as ruby red and white.

As standard with 9 and 10 inch laptops the Lenovo S10 has a 1024×600 pixel resolution. The AntiGlare TFT display is vivacious with rich colors and when mutual with the matte finish prevents reflections and glare. This is chiefly helpful when the sun beams through the window or if you desire to sit outdoors utilizing your laptop.

With the 6-cell battery attached to the pivot of the laptop some people have recommended that the two-tone glance makes the laptop look quite "toy like". The exterior may not be as significant as the quality and aspects of the laptop so this is completely personal preference.

The build quality is rather striking for a Netbook. Although it is created mainly from plastic it does sense tough enough to be carried around. One of the most common requests among consumers with laptops more than 6 months old is upgradeability. Laptop and computer technology shifts so fast that no sooner have you purchased a new laptop it is out-of-date. The good news is that the S10 is far simpler to upgrade than many other Netbooks.
Dealboy

Before I purchased this laptop, I ordered a 14″ Dell (another i3 for $499 from Dell’s 10 days deal promo) but I canceled it later because they told me the laptop will take them three weeks to build it (!?). Thanks God! I found this deal in newspaper and went to a local OMX to get one (It showed “Discounted” in the OMX site). Since I have never owned a Acer laptop before, I kind of being skeptical about their build quality but I changed my doubt after I opened the box.

The package is kind of cheap but not the laptop. It is lighter than my old Toshiba and so far I have not sensed any heating issue like my mac pro and Toshiba did. The design is contemporary, fun and curvy but not as slick as high end HP, Apple or Sony (you got what you pay for). The spec is really good…It comes with a sharp and saturated LED screen. The keyboard setting is intuitive and the keys are very responsive. The touchpad is kind of cool and it is hard to find in a laptop in this price range. The weight is light for 15 inch comparing to my two-year-old Toshiba and even one-year-old Mac Book pro. It also comes with a fast Intel i3 processor, a DVD writer, a build-in web came, 4G DDR3-1066 memory, a 320 G hard drive, modem port, a Numeric keypad, Dolby certified speakers, 6 cell battery, a SD slot, N wireless, Bluetooth, and a HDMI port. For this spec, it is even cheaper than building your own box. And, I am wondering how Acer making their profit?

So far, the only thing upset me is I need to removed a lot of sticker from this computer. Especially, the sticker located on the top of mouse pad is very sticky. I have not thought about a good way to remove the residue without messing it up. On the other hand, something cool is this laptop can me allow to the create default disc for recovering the Windows 7 coming with it. It take me three empty disc and two hours to burn but I am very grateful. For a price tag, $499, I am very happy with the speed and the spec of it. It makes me easy the pain to miss to a deal of SONY Viao ($569) two weeks ago and the cancellation of my Dell.

The bottom line is that I will not buy this laptop for serious gaming because the graphic is mediocre. Meantime, I did some research and found Acer is the less reliable laptop after two years of use. However, I am thinking to swap another faster laptop after two years since I only pay $499 now. And I can bring it with me to go anyway without being worry about a scratch or two.
Score: 5 / 5

Many people, when they want to buy a laptop computer, think about the price above all. The price is a very important factor in deciding upon one such laptop, because most people want to stay in the limits of a budget and won’t spend more than planned on a machine.

The cheapest laptop computers are not the worst and this is why in what follows we will discuss a bit about the cheapest laptop computers that can be now found on the market and their features. So if you want to stay in the limits of a budget, but still have a nice laptop to work on, a laptop that will perform your basic tasks (because most cheap laptops have a single core processor), that you should check out the list below.

The Samsung R610 is one of the cheapest laptop computers that are on the market. Although it has some very good features, the manufacturer has cut down from different parts in order to keep the price low, but it also made it less efficient. Let’s see the features of this cheap laptop. First of all, the processor is an average Intel T5800 2.0GHz that runs on 3GB of RAM and that will perform your basic tasks, but that’s about all. The hard drive, though, has a pretty good storage capacity of 250GB on which you can stock almost anything from documents to photos, videos and music. Although the 16-inch laptop has a bright display and is very light and thin, it has very poor battery life, so you won’t be able to travel very long and use it without recharging it. Also, the resolution could be higher and another bad thing is that the laptop computer has a limited feature set. However, if you plan to use it just for the basic tasks and nothing more, than you should consider it because it is really cheap and it performs the however little work well enough.

Another cheap laptop computer is the MSI Wind 1000 that is actually a mini laptop with a 10-inch screen. Although it embeds pretty nice features, there some things that could be better. Take for instance the speakers, they could have more volume and the webcam suffers from a bit of lag, and also some improvement can be brought to the touchpad. However, the fact that the laptop’s LCD has great viewing angles and a 6-Cell battery makes it a good purchase. Also, among the best feature of the laptop are included the Wireless N, Bluetooth, and 3 USB 2.0 and the comfortable keyboard. All in all, the laptop would make for a nice system that will perform your basic tasks thanks to the Atom processor. Most of the features can be upgraded, like the RAM and the hard drive, so you’ll be able to make your laptop a bit better, if you feel the need. If not, than the included features should do their job properly and you’ll be pleased to pay a small price for a nice system.

Soccer
Do you like soccer? If you do keep on reading to learn more tips or if you don’t know how to play, then keep reading to learn the rules of soccer.

How To Play And Rules
In soccer you only use your feet, head, and chest. You don’t use your hands because if you do the referee will let the other team kick a free kick. A free kick is a kick with the ball on the ground and nobody can take the ball away from you. If someone does take the ball away, the referee will give who ever took the ball away a yellow card. If you do a foul or do something bad, you will get a yellow card and the second time you do something bad you will get a red card. The red card means you get out the game and you cant play anymore. Another thing is if you kick the ball outside the field, the other team will take the ball inside the field with their both hands. The whole purpose of the game is to make more goals than the other team. There is a tip to make a goal easier. If you get farther than the half court and you get near the goalie, what you have to do is get close to him and kick the ball the other direction he is at. If the goalie is the one that throws him self on the ground to get the ball, then kick the ball up so it can go over him. If you are close to make a goal and then you kick it but the goalie blocks it and the ball goes out. The ball goes outside the field and it’s the side where the goalie is it’s a corner kick. A corner kick is a kick from the corner of the field and it always has to be in the other teams side. You can kick it to your teammate so they can try to make a goal, or you can kick it to your teammate in the air and that is when you use your head. If it is a corner kick and your teammate kicks it to you in the air, then look at the ball and when it comes down hit the ball with your forehead and twist your head aiming at the goalie box.
5 vs. 5
Sometimes there are tournaments and when you play there are five people against other five people. Five vs. five is the same thing as the normal soccer but the five vs. five fields is small. When you start the ball says, “kick me”. Big people kick the ball like if they were a cannon shooting a ball. Five vs. five games the goalie always takes it out with his hands but they cant throw the ball and it lands on the other side of the half court. If the goalie throws the ball farther than the half court then the referee will make it a free kick. Those are all the rules and tips about soccer.

Last Wednesday, soccer mecca Nevada Smith's on Third Avenue was shuttered for a day due to alleged underage drinking… The bar reopened Thursday.

Meanwhile, a Nevada Smith's regular shared what has been happening there of late… Kieron Slattery, a longtime popular bartender at Nevada Smith's, was fired by Paddy, one of the two owners. As the regular said, Keiron was fired because he refused to pay the fine the bar incurred — upwards of $2,500. According to one side of the story, Paddy was passing the fine on to the bartenders who were on duty when the summonses were issued. Making matters worse, Kieron was arrested for trespassing when he showed up for work the next day. (One person familiar with the situation said that he refused to come out from behind the bar when asked.)

Now, as a result of Kieron's departure, several longtime regulars are boycotting Nevada Smith's, choosing to watch games at venues such as Central Bar on Ninth Street instead. [Update: Bartender Ken Foley was also fired...]

There is also a Facebook page created for Slattery titled “Pay the Fine! Not Fine the Workers!”

There's an alternate take on all this in a post at the New York Gooners.

Bottom line right now: There's a lot of tension at Nevada Smith's as all this is getting worked out… in addition, those rumors persist that the bar will be moving to a larger location nearby … and that the bar's current location, 74 Third Ave., will be razed…

Update: Sign a petition to reinstate the two bartenders here.

The Acer Aspire One (1.6Ghz Atom, 160GB Hard Drive, 1 GB RAM, 6-cell) is a mini-notebook like no other, featuring the benefits of a bright screen, large keyboard and a long-lasting battery life at a price that's hard to argue with. The few negatives with the Acer Aspire One include the fact that it has no CD-Rom drive (like most subnotebooks), and it's more difficult to upgrade than competitors such as the Asus EEE PC. Overall, though, the Acer's benefits tend to outweight the competition.

First, the hard drive on the Acer Aspire One leaves nothing to be desired. With a full 160GB capacity, it can store thousands of MP3 songs, thousand of pictures, and even a large handful of videos. Consider turning your Acer Aspire One into a portable DVD player from time to time, meaning one-less gadget to need to carry with you.

Second, the size of this Acer Mini-Notebook is amazingly small. It's footprint is at most 12″ across, and the screen is 9″ as advertised. Fortunately, it's not so small that they couldn't fit much of a keyboard in, and it comes with a keyboard that is 95% the size of a standard keyboard. Many other subnotebooks feature keyboards much smaller, and more difficult to type one. The keyboard does not bounce or have any other problems, but the keys are not super quiet, nor super loud. The mouse, on the other hand, is very interesting, but not difficult to use. You will need to enable touch-to-click, or else you'll find it difficult to use. The buttons are on the sides, and difficult to press down. Sometimes you'll touch the mousepad and the button at the same time, making it harder to click precisely unless you are careful.

The camera built into the Acer is another great feature, that I'd never had with cheap notebooks before. The picture quality is acceptable for video messaging, or anything else you might be doing on the web. The black area around the screen and camera are subject to fingerprint marks, though, so you will need to be careful not to leave too many smudges near your screen.

The 6-cell battery life is as should be expected. On average you will likely find yourself getting five and half hours of life per charge, unless you're doing more resource-intensive work, like watching DVDs. The fact that it's screen brightness surpases the Asus and other sublaptops is probably also a reason the Acer Aspire One does not have a longer battery life.

Upgrading the Acer Aspire One is not easy, though. The Asus EEE mini-notebook allows you to add more RAM with ease, but to do so in the Acer requires you to take it apart - and thus void the warranty, which I don't recommend. It tends to run fine with the standard memory, though, so you shouldn't have to worry much about needing to upgrade.

Overall, the Acer Aspire One is a fantastic netbook (ie subnotebook, mini-laptop). The price, which is roughly between $350-$380 on Amazon, is fairly average for the type of notebook, but the quality of this netbook surpasses the rest.
