I unbiased received Worship Hina Movie Collection. Now for all of you that are involved in the Admire Hina series, ogle it and esteem it. Want more info on Cherish Hina, go check out numerous reviews on it already. This review is to articulate you about the product. Ok, I ordered this because I wanted to accept a collector box plus 3 disks in 3 seperate DVD cases as shown in the represent. That didn’t turn out to be the case. Now I don’t know if it depends on who you order this product from or not but let me impart you what I received. I received a single DVD case with 3 disc inside, no collector box. I will upload photos for so you can ogle what I am talking about. Quite different from the describe shown in the product info at the top of the page. Now I would have given the 5 stars but I couldn’t based on the unfounded portray. I am satisfied with my buy because it has in it what I wanted. Cherish Hina Movie Collection includes Like Hina Christmas Movie, Worship Hina Spring Movie, Adore Hina Again. The DVD extras include the 25 episode, plus other openings and endings that we have seen before but this time without text. If you have Anime Legends Care For Hina Complete Collection as I do, then Fancy Hina Movie Collection with earn your collection complete.

First off, i’d like to say that what the previous gentleman was referring to: that the movies didn’t reach in one collector’s box location…it did for me. So, i don’t know what to say about that for him.

I was very joyful getting this box site. All the movies are colossal. I’m not going to go into detail with each movie because you can gain those everywhere… (plus, i’m a limited busy at the moment. haha) If you like Adore Hina, net these movies. I also unbiased ordered the complete collection, hopefully they’ll secure here soon. First time i heard about Like Hina, i honestly view it was a hentai….i didn’t know anything about it. i then had the chance to discover it online, fell in savor with the anime, ordered the movies, got the manga vol. 13 & 14: THE Exact ENDING TO THE Legend!!!!!!( YOU HAVE TO Acquire IT, IT’S SO WORTH IT!) The movies steal up where the episodes left off. Since they tried to fit as worthy as they could into the movies, the account does seem a tiny compressed(A Tiny) . Other than that, they’re astounding. Care For Hina Again gives a very satisfying destroy. Plus, you come by to peruse episode 25 on Worship Hina Christmas!

I’ve been an Elvis fan for 10 years now, and I’ve seen most of his 60’s movies. For some reason I didn’t rent this one till recently- I contemplate it’s because I had it confused with “The Anxiety With Girls”, which I have no desire to notice. Anyway, we rented this because we saw it had “A Runt Less Conversation” in it and liked it so worthy we ended up buying it.

Elvis plays Greg Nolan, a photographer who..ok, there’s not worthy of a state to recount here. The storyline consists of a girl he meets who keeps changing her name (Bernice/Betty/Suzie/Alice) and personality, spending most of the movie alternately messing with Elvis’ mind and coming on to him. Meanwhile, Elvis gets two jobs for girlie-type magazines in the same building- one of them is called “Classic Cat Magazine” (or maybe it’s Classy Cat) being a photographer and pretends at both that he only works for that magazine, while he literally runs wait on and forth between the two jobs, changing clothes and trying not to have one boss procure out about the other. Red West makes his usual cameo as a guy in a fight scene who Elvis ends up [fighting] (always fun to eye) .

This is a magnificent fun Elvis movie, and since it was filmed in ‘68, just around the time Elvis did the comeback special, the King was in large shape, looking graceful enthralling with his sideburns and tan. He also looks like he’s having fun, and doesn’t feel too humdrum. “Spinout” is bewitching, but half the time Elvis looks graceful downhearted. One of my Elvis trivia-type books said this movie has the distinction of being the only one he ever has sex in (offscreen, of course) but I deem the only contrivance you could lisp this is by him waking up in a girl’s bed. His co-star, who looks like a unfavorable between Sharon Tate and how Liz Taylor looked in the 60’s, was kind of annoying (though not as unpleasant as some of the actresses he’s worked with, and at least she has a mountainous wardrobe.) It was mainly the fact that she had this kind of whispery assure like Taylor. The clothes and hair are all really chilly.

There are only 4 songs in the movie, but two of them are especially edifying. I loved “The Edge of Reality”-Elvis has this trippy dream because Bernice/Betty/Suzie/Alice has been messing with his mind so worthy. The song is astronomical, and Elvis wears this tailored plot of pajamas that survey more like a blue sharkskin suit. I believe whoever designed and choreographed the dream sequence might have paid a tiny visit to Dr. Nick’s, if you know what I mean, but it’s resplendent frigid. The highlight of the movie for me was definitely “A Tiny Less Conversation”, which Elvis sings to a hot babe at a swinging cocktail party as he’s getting her to leave with him. Ogle for the male red-haired go-go dancer that they pass who dances so furiously and wildly that his gyrations actually manufacture him upstage Elvis for a few seconds, which is no puny feat. As he and the chick are leaving, they pass other go-go dancers, stagger out the door of the icy 60’s pad, and hop in Elvis’ Cadillac that the valets impartial happened to have pulled up in front at that second, while Elvis smoothly never misses a beat and manages to compose the whole thing peruse like he does it every night. Now THAT’S how you leave a party!

One of Elvis’ better flicks from the 60’s, and definitely my common movie of his to perceive from the tedious 60’s.

This movie has it all — Michelle Carey, Elvis, changing times, psychedelic sequences (check out the “Edge of Reality” bit — the girls “morph” *years* before the technology was invented!), taboo subjects (sex, etc.), and the unique version of “A Runt Less Conversation.” It is a fair romantic comedy; had it never been made with Elvis, and had been shot this year with Ben Afleck and Cameraon Diaz, it would be a shatter hit! Actually, it was a glorious vast hit in its believe time, even though it was one of Elvis’s last three or four movies. This film needs to be released on DVD soon! Especially amazing is the widescreen version that airs on TNT every now and then. Michelle Carey was fabulous — I wish she was collected around. The songs are colossal (all 4 of them), and this movie, written by the same dude that wrote “Private Lessons” (1981), rises above the rest of the poor schlock that Elvis concerned himself with for the majority of the sixties. Relax, check it out, and have a helpful time.

The team at Fox had a lot of treasure for this movie and it shows. Grasp this DVD and regain Fox to release some series episodes with Adam, Burt, Julie Newmar (Catwoman) and Frank Gorshin (Riddler) doing commentary!

Who knew that the campy 1960s’ rob on the black superhero Batman would age so well? 39 years later, “Batman: The Movie” tranquil is wholly scrumptious even for the most adrent Batman fan.

The station of the film is paperthin. Batman (Adam West) and his sidekick, Robin (Burt Ward), are out to thwart the four most hazardous villians in Gotham: Catwoman (Lee Meriwehter), The Joker (Cesar Romero), The Penguin (Burgess Meredith) and The Riddler (Frank Gorshin, who recently left us, sadly) from taking over Gotham. To lure Batman into a trap, they kidnap Batman’s secret identity, Bruce Wayne. This is more or less all the dwelling there is. There’s also somehing about destroying people with a dehyrdator, but other than that, there’s no proper area. And that’s the film’s charm.

It’s a sizable share of 1960s’ nostalgia. The “holy (insert random word or phrase here), Batman” schtick is composed hilarious, and the cast is clearly enjoying themselves. The extras for the dvd are surpisingly luscious. The commentary is awesome and the other extras divulge, but it’s the movie that is really worth watching.

I savor the film “Pollyanna” and have been waiting for the DVD for what seems like forever. I am very impressed by it! The record and sound quality are astounding - so powerful better than the copy I have taped off TV from the slack 80s. The film is presented in widescreen but I’ve realized not a lot goes on on the sides of the narrate in this particular movie; in other words, you really don’t regain distinguished more action with widescreen than you would have with the pan & scan video or a TV-taped version. However, this IS the film as the director intended it, and I judge that’s huge. This DVD (actually two DVDs!) contains so powerful sizable stuff, I can’t even list it all here. Let’s honest say amazon.com’s list doesn’t even net INTO what’s on this DVD. There are so many diminutive treasures, and something for everyone - Disney fanatics, Hayley Mills fans, movie freaks, and (naturally!) Pollyanna fans. My current features so far are the featurette on Pollyanna advertising, the one about how they restored the picture/film to do the colors how they should have been, and the one about Pollyanna merchandise. Plus, the audio commentary by Hayley Mills and the (now unhurried) David Swift is insightful and racy. I would also recommend the “Parent Trap” DVD for more of the same fun. The Disney co. really went all out for these DVDs and they are well worth the money. And if you’ve never seen the movie - it’s an adorable family flick that I’ve loved for nearly 14 years. I hope you like it, too!

I was a bit nervous seeing this movie as I was timid it was going to live up to it’s title and be method too sugary sweet. I was pleasnatly surprised and even moved afterwards.

Pollyanna is a delectable movie that lifts the spirits and provides many life lessons without ever being preachy or feeling like a school lesson. I was genuinely entertained and even a bit surprised at the valiant steps the movie takes. Would you believe this movie features a preacher most everyone fears, or has a bittersweet ending? I notion not. Well there’s plenty more here to surprise you. Unprejudiced give it a chance.

About the only thing I fault the movie for is being a bit too long. Some scenes objective seem to go on and on, but that’s what chapter stops and the expeditiously forward button are for.

As for the DVD presentation, it’s terrific. The movie looks and sounds elegant plus the second disc is unbiased jammed packed with extra material. I was aroused to listen to the commentary, but sadly it’s as sugary and stout of untrue emotion as the movie is not. Composed the other bonuses are well worth the extra bucks and there will probably never be a better presentation of Pollyanna.

Although, these later episodes aren’t as consistently honorable as the first three seasons, there are definitely some gems here. What has become one of my favorites of all-time is “Whale of a Birthday.” I must have watched this one a dozen times already and I smooth want to view it again! Most episodes that feature that over-dramatic typical teen-ager Pearl are hilarious anyway, but this one cracks me up every time! That song “It’s All About You” is large and Squidward’s “I Need 4-Ply When I Shout” is too mighty! That one episode alone is worth getting this place, but there are other marvelous ones as well.

“Chimps Ahoy”: Sandy’s underwater tree house has been funded by a group of educated chimps. Having yet to manufacture an invention to account for her funding, Sandy’s paralyzed she’ll have to leave Bikini Bottom. SB and Patrick try to attach Sandy’s job.

“Whale of a Birthday”: It’s Pearl’s 16th birthday, and Mr. Krabs better not be cheap this time!

“Karate Island”: SB wins a slither to a mysterious island to be crowned “king of karate,” but Sandy is skeptical.

“All That Glitters”: SB’s beloved spatula breaks while trying to flip a monster krabby patty. While waiting for it to recover in the hospital (uh…yeah) SB sells literally the shirt off his benefit to assume a state-of-the-art “Le Spatula.” He soon regrets betraying his steady “Spat.”

“Current Leaf”: Plankton decides to give up the formula-stealing business and inaugurate a knick-knack shop. Mr. Krabs can’t bear his nemesis has changed.

“Once Bitten”: Gary the Snail starts uncharacteristically biting everyone in Bikini Bottom. Patrick exacerbates things by spreading a rumor about Wrathful Snail Disease turning victims into zombies. I like the allotment where SB jumps on a bus to dash the zombies only to be dropped off on the other side of the street. Example of tiring, jokes that seem to display up more than in earlier episodes: SB squeezes through the door of the Krusty Krab and then begs Mr. Krabs to let him in.

“Bummer Vacation”: Mr. Krabs has to let SB go on vacation so he hires Patrick as an unpaid intern. SB, at first, can’t halt away and then he thinks it’s a conspiracy. “Wigstruck”: SB finds a rock star’s ghastly, Mozart-on-steroids, wig and thinks it makes people jubilant but, in fact, they are making fun of him. Comical episode, but satisfactory message I guess: SB to Sandy: “I got so considerable enjoyment out of the wig myself, I assumed everyone else did, too.”

“Squidtastic Voyage”: Sandy wants to try her “Chamber of Shrinkage” to shrink a submarine to retrieve a clarinet reed stuck in Squid’s throat. Patrick and SB accidentally initiate it. As Sandy tells SB: “This is approximately 17 times harder to drive than a boatmobile, which you’ve never successfully done, heh, heh.”

“That’s No Lady”: A misunderstanding has Patrick believing he must leave town, so SB has him wear a disguise–as Patricia. Has its comical moments.

“Hocus Pocus”: SB gets a magic kit and is panicked he’s turned Squid into an ice cream cone. Does a half-hearted Wizard of Oz take-off.

“The Thing”: “Can’t a hard-working squid rep a small TV time alone.” Not with you-know-who next door. As Squid tries to catch away from his annoying neighbors, he rides his bike into a cement truck and is encased in cement. SB and Patrick mistake him for an endangered species. This is a humorous one. I like when Squid is thrown in the zoo truck with the exasperated clam.

“Driven to Tears”: SB has failed his driver’s test 58 times. He feels even worse when Patrick passes his first try.

“Rule of the Tiresome”: Patrick finds out he’s descendant from kings and the royal treatment goes to his head. Fun detail: Patrick has a library book called “How to Read.”

“Best Frenemies”: A current kelp shake restaurant gives Plankton and Mr. Krabs a accepted enemy.

“Born to Be Wild”: SB and Patrick prepare to defend Bikini Bottom from an soon-to-be-arriving biker gang.

“Squid Wood”: After numerous playtime rejections, SB creates a puppet Squidward who is more talented and more well-liked than the actual Squidward (well, that’s not saying great) .

“The Pink Purloiner”: SB suspects Patrick has stolen his prized jelly fishing pick up.

“Best Day Ever”: All of SB’s plans for his sizable day unravel. This episode is predictable and a small remarkable to choose. Since when can Squidward book a clarinet recital, anyway.

“The Gift of Gum”: This is naaaaasty! Patrick gives SB his collection of musty chewing gum for Best Friend’s Day and SB is not clear how to glean rid of it without hurting Patrick’s feelings. Totally irascible, man!

This 2 disc position provides a most extraordinary perceive of an necessary time in both music and television history. Most notably, it contains the three chunky length shows (along with commercials) that were integral in the Beatles’ first visit to the United States. The Beatles obtain their chart toppers in the U.S. including “I Want to Contain Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” “From Me To You,” and “Please Please Me.” The region also includes a most challenging (and complete) 1965 present where you can clearly glance the group’s growth as songwriters. The 1965 song place consists of “I’m Down,” “Mark to Stride,” and “Wait On.” This is a long procedure in a relatively short time from “All My Loving” and “From Me To You.” The first explain is the one most treasured by fans, and it obviously is a must-see. Viewing the complete display allows you to better luxuriate in the magnitude and importance of the Beatles appearance in the U.S. However, ALL of the shows provide an astonishing witness at common music during this time. And everybody else fair looked evil.” As you stare the younger generation embrace the Beatles, references to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and even Dave Barry’s comedy routine (on disc 3) seem like something that only the “faded folks” would be enthusiastic in and perhaps considered very “square.” Suddenly, the younger generation has decided what they like and what they would listen to. Soon after the Beatles first visit, Sullivan would be determined to always include “something for the youngsters.”

Historic and classic comedy routines by Allen & Rossi, Morcombe & Wise (also from England), and Soupy Sales are savory to study as well. The novelty acts are quaint and somewhat silly, but nevertheless principal because they were an integral allotment of Sullivan’s shows. The sincere importance of these discs lies in the music and musical productions.

The only drawback to the location is that it leaves Beatle fans hungry for more in the sense that now we want “the anecdote unhurried the sage.” Davy Jones mentioned his inability to leave the wings during the broadcast because he was so enraptured by the Beatles’ performance and how he suddenly realized that he wanted a future in a band. McCall & Brill, who make a comedy skit on the first display, have told of their experience that Sunday night. Ed Sullivan hated their skit and wanted them to switch to another routine fair before they hit the air. They timorous and didn’t know what to do. By chance, they met the Beatles backstage while John Lennon was looking for a Coca-Cola. All of the Beatles made them feel more at ease and they went ahead with the routine, but Sullivan was not happy. You’ll glimpse that he does not call them over to shake hands, which is what Sullivan usually did with the acts he truly liked. It would have been nice to recognize interviews with reflections from those interested in the production of the first demonstrate.

There are naturally some technical glitches once in a while but they are really not noticable. The shows are in attractive gloomy and white and the audio is at its best. If you are a Beatle fan, this is definitely a must-buy. If you’re not, but have a longing for musical variety programs once again, this space is serene classic and luscious.

I have all of the other Beatles DVD’s and this is the only one with the I Feel Heavenly, I’m Down, Yesterday, Designate To Flow performances from 1965. Shortly after this, the Beatles stopped performing live.

About half blueprint through this film I wondered to myself if the audience would clap when it was over. They did, and it was a spontaneous and well-deserved conclusion. I’m betting Every Dinky Step will win awards for Best Documentary of the year. The film begins as a retrospective about the modern Broadway musical A Chorus Line, which debuted in 1975 and after 6,137 performances became the longest-running musical ever. Archival material and interviews with members of the unusual production win you succor thirty years to the show’s simple premise, which centered on the deeply human stories of seventeen performers. The documentary then turns to the 2006 Broadway revival of the recent musical, and takes you backstage to follow the stories of the dancers who auditioned for the fifteen or so spots. It begins with an initiate call that drew 3,000 artists, and proceeds through several call backs until the cast is finalized. Many are called but only a dinky few are chosen for the coveted opportunity.

“Every Microscopic Step” is a terrific movie. I’ve already seen it twice in the theater and I’m looking forward to a DVD ASAP

A documentary about dancers auditioning for the revival of the musical about dancers auditioning for a musical? …it sounds insular but it’s not. There is a universal appeal in following the hopeful young performers who aspire against tough odds and thousands of other dancers to land a role in A Chorus Line.

I’m a sucker for competition-type stories, and I remember seeing A Chorus Line on Broadway, so I found it piquant to search for how it all began and follow the intense, complex process of bringing a production to life.

Watching “Queen of Outer Place” is akin to watching a 1957 Miss World contest while on hallucinogens. Position summary: Earthmen’s rocket is knocked off course by a mysterious “death beam”, where it lands on Venus, which is populated solely by women. The women wear mini-skirted tunics, with the exception of “Queen Iliana”, who dresses like an obnoxious, masked Auntie Mame, and “Tolleia”, graceful scientist and rebel leader, played by aesthetic Hungarian Zsa Zsa Gabor, in a series of glamorous gowns. Zsa Zsa is carefully “posed” in every shot, particularly her long-shots, where her leg is “artfully” protruding from the thigh-length slits in her gowns. Tolleia and many other man-hungry females secretly oppose the man-hating, pizza-faced queen (MEN were responsible for her radiation-burned face beneath her conceal) . Tolleia utters the illustrious line, “I despise her–I Abominate zat queen!” The Earthmen, together with Tolleia and her followers, tamper with Queen Iliana’s “Beta Disintegrator”, with which she plans to extinguish Earth. It blows up, reducing her to a charred mannequin, and Tolleia is proclaimed the recent queen. This film is irresistibly palatable, from its kitschy sets (The queen’s palace looks like a despicable between a burlesque theater and a leftover space from “What’s My Line? “), to the hubba-hubba women’s costumes, to the men’s costumes, evidently leftovers from “Forbidden Planet”. Evidently, someone at Allied Artists had access to MGM’s wardrobe department! Some of Anne Francis’ “Forbidden Planet” costumes are stale by Lisa Davis, who plays one of Zsa Zsa’s compatriots. The humorous dialogue, ridiculous sound effects, and a paper-mache giant beetle add to the general hilarity of this comic-book version of the battle of the sexes. Needless to say, this film has an broad overjoyed following. How could it not? Zsa Zsa writes in her book, “One Lifetime is Not Enough”, that her line, “I abhor zat queen”, gets huge laughs from her many satisfied friends. The lady is extremely consuming. I may also add to the unitiated that Zsa Zsa was at the peak of her beauty in this film. It’s no wonder she had all the men in a flow. You can’t accuse her of not having a sense of humor, and she’s certainly NEVER plain!

When a spaceship from Earth has technical problems, the crew is forced to invent an emergency landing on Venus. They gain equipment from the wrecked ship and site up a camp to ponder their fate. During the night, the astronauts are awoken by miniskirted Amazon women, who order them to “bachino”, which means “travel it” in Venusian. Next, they meet the fashionably attired Zsa Zsa Gabor who becomes the crew’s ally. She tells them that every man on Venus has been imprisoned on another planet by the mysterious “Masked Queen”. The Queen’s hatred of men is quite perplexing. She wants to be loved, yet she refuses the advances of one of the crewmates she so obviously desires. The suspense is overwhelming, and it keeps building until the raze. Rarely has Hollywood produced such a lovely film that has been so vastly underrated since it’s release.

The visuals are nothing short of pretty, especially in HD. It’s worth the download honest to check out how beautifully the cg animation is rendered. The action scenes are tight, with Matrix-esque lifeless motion shots, crazy camera angles and an emphasis on heavy gun play, indicative of producer John Woo’s style. One drawback on the cg animation though is that when characters interact with each other physically it seems awkward. They don’t feel like they are touching. I imagine that when you do something with animation like that you’d accelerate into clipping issues when the characters intereact heavily. In fact, it reminded me of slit scenes from Eternal Sonata, a video game using similar animation techniques but on a bigger scale obviously.

The yarn is an upgrade from the first movie, although the main antagonist borrows heavily from classic Star Journey villain, the Borg. There’s even a Borg like cube of sorts that serves as it’s foundation. The subplot consists of a triangle between Deunan, Briareos (the main protagonists from the first movie) and Tereus, a biroid created mostly from Briareos’s DNA who becomes Deunan’s unusual partner after her lover falls in battle.

If I were to obtain a criticism I’d say that the main antagonist was revealed a tad too leisurely, making the final resolution a runt anti-climactic. At a runtime of about an hour and 40 minutes I felt like another 20 minutes would have been justified. When it was over, I couldn’t quite enjoy it at first. Also, and this may be a safe thing, events from the first movie go almost completely without mention. This means that you won’t have to have seen the first one to bask in this, but at the same time there is a lack of continuity for those that did.

All in all though, it’s a advantageous film and worth a notice.

The first Appleseed film (from 2004) was quite a treat. The cell-shaded CG graphics looked very generous for the time. Complementing this positive standout aspect was an arresting memoir and an safe soundtrack. It’s worth noting that the account, in particular, felt like a genuinely novel re-animation of sci-fi concepts.

Fast forward to today and we have the sequel, Ex Machina. It’s glowing simple to separate what works and doesn’t in Machina:

GRAPHICS:

The level of detail in the graphics has improved dramatically, and characters ogle less like geometric objects with textures painted on and more like agreeable people. The cityscapes are even more impressive. Furthermore, the action is more frequent and looks even slicker.

My two gripes with the visuals are these: First, in what is all too popular in action movies like this, the best scene is the first one. Hands down. I don’t understand why so many directors feel the need to frontload their movies. I will say that the movie is less guilty of this than its predecessor. Second, movement outside of action scenes serene looks a bit jerky. Some might fault mo-cap technology, but for my money, Final Fantasy: Advent Children boasted some distinguished believable movement.

STORY/WRITING:

Here’s where Ex Machina falls apart. The legend here isn’t anything you haven’t seen executed better in anime/other entertainment. Compared to the set of the first movie- which created a novel sci-fi framework, this one felt like a filler episode. The villain was cliche, the account far less complex/meaningful than the first, and any intrigue or mystery the anecdote might yet have held was ruined by the unsuitable writing. The film tasks itself with letting the viewer in on a number of concepts distinguished to the site, but rather than integrate them seamlessly into the dialog, it bashes the viewer over the head with them.

MUSIC:

The soundtrack wasn’t bad- I honest didn’t see it most of the time. This constitutes a exiguous letdown considering how often I return to the soundtrack from the first movie.

OVERALL: Ex Machina is a peek to gawk and warrants a blu-ray retract. Unbiased don’t query it to expand powerful on the ideas introduced in the first Appleseed.

1996: The city of Los Angeles is an absolute crash. Crime abounds, with the most celebrated abominable guy around, Simon Phoenix(Wesley Snipes) taking it all in like one huge joke. John Spartan (Stallone) has been after this guy for several years, but in the process of finally enthralling Phoenix, the building around them explodes, appartently taking several innocent hostages up with it. Spartan is stripped of his despicable and sentenced to cryogenic imprisonment for 70 years.

2032: Spartan has served 36 years of his sentence. Phoenix, who was imprisoned in the same facility, escapes and begins to reinvigorate his reign of scare. The only jam is that the LA that Spartan, Phoenix, and the rest of us all know and worship has turned into a megalopolis called San Angeles, a politically fair paradise where there is absolutely no violent crime—correction, no crime of any kind—whatsoever. (There is also no profanity, and anyone who swears is fined for violations of the Verbal Morality Statute.) Consequently, people have forgotten how to deal with a fugitive like Phoenix. The only solution is to bring Spartan out of the freezer, which is exactly what happens.

This movie introduced me to action movies, particularly Stallone movies, and the movie soundtrack genre. The special effects will blow you away all by themselves. This was also the first movie I ever saw with Sandra Bullock. Perhaps it’s because of her airy portrayal of Lt. Huxley that made me mediate of her as my accepted actress for a while. But that’s another fable.

I reflect that San Angeles is a silly bone-tickling example of political correctness gone to far. Either that or it’s social conservatism. Sometimes I wonder if San Angeles is the kind of world people in the family values crowd would like to live in. In any case, even if you don’t like action movies very powerful, I deem you will like this one.

Demolition Man is one of those rare action flicks that seem to have intellegence beyond the guns and explosions. Sylvester Stallone plays John Spartan, a reckless cop who has made it his mission to bring down his arch-enemy Simon Phoenix. Phoenix is a crime lord who has kidnapped 30 bus passengers. John Spartan rushes in and attempts to effect them and apprehend Phoenix, but the passengers apparently die in an explosion situation by Phoenix. John Spartan is arrested for the deaths of the passengers and charged with involuntary manslaughter, and both men are sent to a cryogenic prison, and frozen. But decades later in the year 2032, Phoenix escapes, and all hell breaks loose.

The world has become peaceloving, and there are no more violent weapons on the streets, and physical contact of any kind is frowned upon. So you can imagine the kind of time a criminal like Phoenix would be having. The only draw to cessation him is to thaw Spartan, and soon the 2 enemies go at it all over the futuristic city of San Angeles. Sandra Bullock also stars as the cop who becomes the partner of Spartan in the future, and she starts to inquire of everything she has been brought up to acquire in.

This is where the film becomes an intellegent satire as well as an action film. The future, while vivid and crime-free, has left the world without freedom. Salt, red meat, and even sex has become illegal. The police encode chips into peoples hands so they can withhold track of them wherever they go. But once Spartan is released, he takes an immediate disliking to the mettlesome fresh world. Interlaced in all of this is plenty of humor in the dialogue, as Stallone’s character does and says things that freaks out the people around him who have never seen behavior like that before. As for the action, this film has some astonishing action scenes. There is a brawl between Phoenix and Spartan on a futuristic highway going 70 miles an hour, and plenty of shootouts. This DVD doesn’t offer remarkable in the plot of extras, but there is a superb commentary by the director, and standard/wide represent sizes of the film, and a trailer. One of the best action movies of the 90’s, apt up there with T2.
